Visit to College Park Aviation Museum, Free for AHG Members!

    College Park Aviation Musem

For AHG members attending the Mutual Concerns Conference, Aviation Heritage Group is pleased to offer a tour of the College Park Aviation Museum in College Park, Maryland.

    Getting There
The museum is located at the College Park Airport, just 20 minutes by car, or an easy Metro ride from downtown (College Park stop). The tour will take place immediately before the AHG Annual General Meeting. The Washington Court Hotel, site of the conference, is just two blocks from the Union Station Metro stop.

    Tour Details
Since people will be arriving at different times via different transport,  we decided to start the actual tour at 1:30PM, although you are welcome to  arrive earlier and tour on your own. (And, if you arrive later than 1:30, it  will be very easier to catch the group at any time.)

We will meet at the museum auditorium, and the tour will include access to  the library/collections and behind the scenes.  The restoration shop will be  open, permitting a visit to see a nearly completed full-scale reproduction  of a Curtiss model D.

Participants should enjoy their visit to this 27,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility located on the grounds of the world's oldest continuously operating airport in College Park, MD. The airport was founded in 1909 when Wilbur Wright arrived to give flight instruction to the first military aviators. The museum features ten unique aircraft, starting with a 1910 Wright Model B reproduction. The aircraft and and artifacts tell the story of the airport's many firsts in aviation history.

The AHG Annual General Meeting will be held in the auditorium of the College Park Aviation Museum after the end of the tour. We guarantee adjournment in plenty of time for everyone to attend the opening Mutual Concerns reception.

    Registration Information
There will be no cost to participants (this will save members the fee for the tour at the end of the Conference and allow them to take part in one of the other tours).

There is no maximum number of participants, but only two per member organization (one for individual memberships).

You must be logged in to register online. All attendees must register by March 26, 2010 (one day before the tour), by clicking "register" on the left, or by e-mailing your Organization and attendee names to aviationheritagegroup@gmail.com.

Visitors to the museum step into an open 1 1/2 story exhibit space, which highlights the display of unique aircraft and artifacts and tells the story of the airport's many firsts in flight to today. The museum gallery contains historic and reproduction aircraft associated with the history of the airfield, as well as hands-on activities and interpretive areas for children of all ages. Changing exhibits and new programs every month keep visitors coming back for more.
